Google adds a new integrated viewing mode for Gmail users

Google introduces a new integrated viewing mode for Gmail users with activated Chat functionality. The new interface includes a left sidebar in the Gmail inbox for quick access to other Google services like Chat, Spaces, and Meet.

To update to the new interface, open the Gmail settings window and click on the See all settings option from the menu. Find and click on the Chat and Meet tab. In the Chat section, make sure you have selected Google Chat and then click on Save Changes to save the changes. Once Chat is activated, you will see Chat, Spaces, and Meet displayed in the left panel of the Gmail window.

To try the new interface, locate and click the gear icon at the top right corner of the Gmail window, then select Try out the new Gmail view.

Beyond a sleeker design, the new Material 3 interface leverages search chips to simplify email searches significantly. Just enter your query in the search box, and the chips above the results will enable filtering by sender, recipient, and more.

If the new interface feels challenging or unfamiliar, Google offers an option to revert to the previous version. Alternatively, you can customize the sidebar in the Settings menu to disable features you don't use.
