Currently, children are temporarily away from schools and at home, dedicating more time to using mobile devices. Google aims to assist parents in finding child-friendly content. Today, the company has launched a new Kids tab on Google Play containing apps that have been 'teacher-approved.' Each app is evaluated based on factors such as age appropriateness, quality of experience, and diversity. Parents can quickly review ratings before downloading.
Google Play Adds Kids Tab with Teacher-Approved Apps
Google also introduces a badge named 'teacher approved,' so even if you're searching beyond the Kids tab, you can still find apps reviewed by educational professionals. Google has collaborated with teachers for several years to manage apps that are both entertaining and educational. They have sought input from education experts from institutions such as Harvard University and Georgetown University.
Google shared in a blog post: 'We trust teachers to educate our children when they are at school, and we truly appreciate them sharing their expertise to evaluate apps that children use even when they are not in school.'
Google will launch the Kids tab sooner than planned, stating they've received positive feedback and it could be especially beneficial during this time. Additionally, Google mentions they are trying to add content as quickly as possible. However, at the moment, you might not see some of your favorite apps. The Kids tab will be rolled out across the United States in the next few days and will expand internationally in the coming months.
