This feature is not entirely new as it was announced by Google last month. A Google spokesperson said that the feature is designed to provide users 'a little more privacy control over the documents stored on their phones'. Privacy Screen also supports timeout allowing users to specify when they want Drive to be locked. Currently, you can choose a delay time of 10 seconds, 1 minute, or 10 minutes. This is beneficial for multitasking users who may need to switch between various apps.
Google Drive now supports Touch ID and Face ID on iPhone and iPad
Google recently introduced a new security enhancement for Google Drive on iOS and iPadOS, requiring Face ID or Touch ID authentication whenever someone tries to open the app on your iOS device.
However, the Privacy Screen security feature is not entirely foolproof. When activated, Google warns you that it cannot protect certain Drive notifications, files shared with the Files and Photos apps on iOS, as well as other system functions. This feature is currently being rolled out to all Apple iPhone and iPad users. You can access the Apple App Store to download this latest update of Google Drive.
