At the Google I/O 2018 conference, Google introduced the Smart Compose feature that utilizes machine learning for automated sentence completion. Initially exclusive to Gmail and limited to G Suite accounts, restricted to Pixel 3 devices, the feature expanded in early 2019 to all Gmail users and subsequently to Google Docs for G Suite accounts. Currently, Smart Compose is rolling out on the Gboard app for select messaging services, starting with Google Messages, Telegram, and WhatsApp.

According to 9to5Google, Smart Compose is now available in the Gboard beta app version 9.5.12.317844448. Its functionality is similar to that in the Gmail app, providing quick predictions that you can choose to complete sentences instantly.
It's still uncertain whether Google will limit the Smart Compose feature to the Messages, WhatsApp, and Telegram apps. Technically, when Gboard has this feature, it should also work with other messaging apps. If this becomes an exclusive feature for Gboard, it could make the keyboard app stand out compared to other popular options in the market.
Smart Compose seems to be undergoing limited testing, even on the latest beta version. It can be hoped that the software giant will officially deploy this feature for users in the coming months.
So, if Google introduces the feature with support for popular messaging apps through Gboard in the near future, would you consider switching to Gboard as your primary keyboard?
