In an email sent to users who have previously used one or more products related to Google Account storage, the company has announced changes in cloud storage policies that will be effective from June 1, 2021.
Users failing to adhere to Google's new storage policies may have their content removed from Google's servers. However, the company has stated that they will provide multiple notifications to users before deleting any content, to avoid any unwanted scenarios.
According to Google, only accounts inactive for two years or exceeding storage limits for two years will be targeted. Since Google's new rules won't take effect until June 2021, and content deletion won't be enforced until June 21, 2023, users have ample time to upgrade to a higher-tier plan or back up photos, documents, and files they wish to retain.
