One of the useful features you can have when enabling Location History on Google Maps on mobile platforms is Your Timeline. In addition to the monthly summaries, Google Maps is sending out the 2020 Timeline update, which has clearly been heavily influenced by the pandemic over the past 12 months for users. It provides statistics and useful information about the places you have visited.
'COVID-19 has changed the world's travel trends in 2020 and the number of places people can go to. If you had the opportunity to travel in 2020, you can see the places you visited with the help of this Timeline email.'
Before providing a summary of the list of places you visited in 2020, Google first confirms the current situation. Then, it provides a map showing where you have been, with specific counts of 'Cities' and 'Places'.
Compared to last year, Google Maps' 2020 summary includes Trends section. It categorizes places into Shopping, Food & Drink, and more, visited monthly with accumulated time. Additionally, you can find out how many miles you drove or walked.
Although we've entered the new year, Google will need one or two weeks to send this email to everyone.
Microsoft encourages people to use Skype instead of WhatsApp as WhatsApp admits to sharing user data on social media. See the details in the article here.
