The latest enhancements include the ability to spot nearby landmarks for better orientation in the surrounding environment. You will see the distance between your current location and the landmark, and Live View will display the routes you need to take to reach that destination. This capability will soon be available on Android and iOS in various cities worldwide, including Amsterdam, Bangkok, Barcelona, Berlin, Budapest, Dubai, Florence, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, Kyoto, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Milan, Munich, New York, Osaka, Paris, Prague, Rome, San Francisco, Sydney, Tokyo, and Vienna. Many other countries will be supported in the future.
Another feature is the ability to open Live View from the media tab in Maps while you are on the move. Live View in Location Sharing will also come to iOS and Android platforms in the near future. It was initially announced for Pixel phones last month before the release of Android 11. The Live View mode in the media tab and Location Sharing will be available on mobile operating systems in the coming weeks.
Moreover, if you frequently use Live View mode, you may be aware that the pinned locations in this mode can sometimes be inaccurate. For example, in hilly areas, the pin may often hover higher than your actual destination. Now, Google promises to address this by utilizing a combination of machine learning and improved terrain maps to accurately place the pin at its rightful location.
The voice-guided navigation feature in Vietnamese on Google Maps is also widely appreciated. If you're unfamiliar with how to use it, check out the article below:
