Google Maps on the web brings a fresh editing experience, enabling you to add missing roads by clicking on the Menu button (the icon with 3 horizontal lines) in the top left corner of the screen and selecting Edit The Map. Then, click on the Missing Road option and add missing roads by drawing them.
Users can upload images and add missing roads to Google Maps on the Web
With this tool, you can also change the direction of a road, redesign it, and delete inaccurate roads, while also renaming them if the information in Maps is incorrect.
Previously, you could only drop a pin on the exact location of the road on Maps and send that information to Google along with the road name. The ability to add missing roads in this latest update will be very useful, especially if you encounter incorrect road names or information, prohibited roads, or roads that no longer exist. This feature will be rolled out in the next few months in over 80 countries. Google will verify your edits before publishing new information.
Additionally, users can download photos of a location with a brief description, such as letting others know about an outdoor seating area at a restaurant or a location that has changed its facade - without having to leave a review or star rating. You can also view photos that others have submitted by switching to the Updates tab. This new type of content will launch in the next few weeks.
Next month, Google will also launch the Local Love Challenge event in the US, where you can participate in this challenge if you're using an Android device. With this nationwide challenge, you can contribute reviews and ratings, as well as verify information about local businesses you support. These contributions aim to update information about 100,000 businesses. You can join the challenge by going to the Contribute tab in the Maps app for Android.
