Recall the WWDC 2018 event held in June. Apple announced with the iOS 12 update that users can utilize other apps besides Apple Maps for navigation on the car platform, specifically mentioning Google Maps and Waze.
As anticipated, following Apple's release of iOS 12 to users, Google also issued an update for Google Maps supporting Apple CarPlay. Users now have additional options for navigation in their vehicles.
Currently, users can wait for the release of the Google Maps update and hope for increased support for third-party apps. This would provide users with more alternative options to Apple Maps.
