Google Meet already boasts numerous intelligent features to mitigate echo effects in video calls, but sometimes this issue can still occur. Even if your device is causing an echo in a call, you may not be aware of it until someone in the call informs you. Thus, you may find yourself in an embarrassing situation when your colleagues start complaining about audio issues from your end.
Echoes in video calls will be detected and eliminated in the latest Google Meet update.

As a result, Google Meet will automatically detect echoes in your video calls and silently send notifications to alert you about the issue. The notification will appear along with a red dot on the 'More' option in the call UI. Clicking on that red dot will lead you to Google Help Center, where you can find necessary steps to resolve and prevent issues including muting the microphone, lowering speaker volume, or switching to headphones.
Google states that the echo warning feature will be available to all Workspace customers, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers. Although this feature has started rolling out, it may take approximately 15 days to reach all users. The warnings are enabled by default and do not require any intervention from administrators to activate.
