All 'high-quality' photos and videos uploaded before June 1 will not count towards the limit, giving users time to decide whether to continue using the service. However, there are exceptions, as Pixel phone owners will be able to continue uploading 'high-quality' content after this date. While there are still limits for original quality videos, it's a small reward for a few Google device owners.
Storage capacity on Google Photos will no longer be free starting from June 1, 2021.

In Photos, 'high-quality' photos and videos are images and clips that the service has compressed to occupy less storage space. You can also upload uncompressed content, but it means using more storage capacity. Since the launch of Google Photos in 2015, one of the fantastic aspects of the service has been the ability to upload memories without worrying about having to delete anything.
Google announces changes in its storage policies to keep up with the increasing demand. To aid users in preparing for these changes, Google plans to introduce a new tool that, according to the company, will help Photos users easily manage their backed-up content. This feature will display blurry or dark photos and suggest deleting them to save storage space. The pricing for Google One remains unchanged. As before, for $2 per month, you get 100GB of storage. Furthermore, Google expresses the hope that over 80% of Photos users won't have to worry about new limits for the next 3 years.
In some way, Photos always seems too good to be true, and it's only a matter of time before Google explores more ways to monetize the service. Just last week, the company introduced a premium editing feature in Photos exclusively for subscribers of Google One. Recent discoveries also indicate the deployment of several premium features.
