According to tech expert Chris Smith of BGR, this is another excellent yet uninspiring smartphone. Specifically, the Google Pixel 3 is Google's 7th-generation smartphone following the previous Nexus series, and it won't truly bring a new direction to the smartphone business of this tech giant.
Reports indicate that Google will introduce 2 smartphones in 2018, namely Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. However, unlike the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL, these 2 smartphones will have completely different designs.
Pixel 3 XL will feature a design 'inspired by iPhone X', along with the notch on the edge-to-edge display, and may include dual selfie cameras. Meanwhile, Pixel 3 will remain loyal to the traditional design but will adopt dual main cameras – a trend deemed necessary in smartphone development. Despite having only 1 lens, the Pixel 2 duo has already outperformed many high-end competitors in the market.
These signs suggest that Google seems to be struggling to find a unique and distinctive direction for itself. It always deserves to be one of the best Android smartphones, but compared to Apple's iPhone, it seems somewhat 'outdated'. Previously, Google criticized Apple for removing the 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7, only to later pour cold water on themselves when they did the same with the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL.
Google's lack of emphasis on research and development, as well as its inferior relationship and collaboration with suppliers in the smartphone industry compared to Apple, may be the reason behind this.
However, as users, we can still be certain to have an excellent Android smartphone at a good price compared to Apple's smartphones. There are currently no details about the price of Google Pixel 3, but it's certain that this smartphone will likely have a price range from 700 to 1000 USD.
