Among the 11 markets where Google Play Movies has recently launched, Vietnam is now included. Google has updated the system directly, so users do not need to update to access the service. This is an online movie streaming service, so it is very different from mp4 or flv movie player apps like VLC or KMPlayer, Windows Media Player.
Unlike downloading videos from YouTube, downloading movies from the Google Play Movies service ensures better video and audio quality. Additionally, downloading videos from YouTube sometimes encounters errors such as sound loss or image loss when downloading YouTube videos to iPhone or Android phones incorrectly.
Google Play Movies, the online movie streaming service, is now available in Vietnam
After clicking on the Movies & Books menu, you will see two clearly separated sections for Movies and Books.
In the Movies section, you can access various specific categories such as Best Sellers, New Releases, Genres, and Studios.
Below, there are also many other subcategories arranged to give users more choices, including action & adventure, animation, science fiction, and more.
After clicking on any movie, you'll have two options: Buy and Rent. Rent prices currently range from about 60-80 thousand dong or more (depending on SD quality and HD viewing and above). Meanwhile, buying prices start at a minimum of 320 thousand dong (standard resolution) with many higher resolution options at higher prices, such as when watching HD or Full HD movies.
Currently, Google Play Store supports Vietnamese users to pay directly through their phone accounts so you can top up your phone card and pay for renting or buying movies. However, you still need a Google account to confirm, just to ensure.
The maximum rental time now is 30 days, after which you can only buy or rent further.
Each movie will have a short trailer to help viewers get an early glimpse of the movie they're about to watch.
After renting or purchasing a movie, you'll need a decent internet speed to download it to your phone. By default, you'll only be able to manage and watch movies through the Google Play Movies & TV app, which not only allows users to watch movies but also TV shows easily.
If you haven't already, you can go to the Account Management > My Movies section and press OK to accept the app download request and Open.
Google Play Movies & TV offers more customization options for movies after downloading, supporting Vietnamese subtitles (if available), with picture and sound quality preserved just like in theaters (depending on your phone's configuration, you'll have different experiences).
Overall Review
- Advantages
+ Google Play Movies service provides a seamless online movie-watching experience that is not inferior, even superior, to VLC, KMPlayer, or Windows Media Player in many aspects. Google Play Movies is also one of the popular online MP4 movie-watching services overseas.
+ Continuously updates many blockbuster movies and good movies on the market.
+ Beautiful interface and organized layout.
- Disadvantages:
+ Being a relatively new service and only recently supported in Vietnam, there are still many shortcomings such as lack of Vietnamese subtitles for many movies. Google Play will soon provide full subtitles for supported markets in the future, so no need to worry.
+ Price discrepancies between buying and renting may not appeal to Vietnamese users.
+ Downloaded movies can only be managed within the Google Play Movies & TV app.
+ Directly downloading movies to internal storage can cause device sluggishness.
