Dubbed as Speed Update, Google's new policy will prioritize returning search results from websites with fast loading speeds on mobile devices. With this change, slower websites will be pushed down the list, and the policy takes effect starting from early July this year.

However, Google emphasizes that content quality remains the primary factor in ranking evaluation, acknowledging user and publisher concerns.
“Speed Update affects only the slowest-performing websites and will impact only a small portion of queries. This policy applies a uniform standard to all websites, regardless of the technology used to build them. The purpose of search queries is just one aspect, so even a slow-loading website can still rank highly if the content is compelling.”
In addition to the commitment, Google encourages content creators to maximize their website performance. Lighthouse, Chrome User Experience Report, and PageSpeed Insights are helpful tools for them to achieve this goal.
On desktop, users often choose leading browsers like Chrome or Firefox for faster page loading speed. In an effort to compete with Chrome, Mozilla has continuously updated Firefox with new improvements. The Firefox 58 version officially launches next week, significantly improving speed. If you're a 'fire fox' user, you can download or update to the latest version of this browser.
