Google Feed was released in December 2016 through an update to the Google App. It gradually replaced Google Now, adding personalized cards updating information based on user preferences and Google app usage, such as sports news, weather, trending news topics, and similar content.
Last year, the company also released a new Feed update, adding the Trending option and the ability to follow topics that users are interested in. As part of efforts to improve search capabilities, the search giant Google underwent a 'makeover' and renamed Google Feed to Discover.
Discover brings a completely new user interface card design, providing users with better information. Each card displays the title of the topics at the top, offering sharper images for each topic. To explore any specific topic, users simply need to tap on it, and the app will display more related articles, including videos and more visual content.
Similar to Feed, users can follow topics on Discover. However, with the new user interface, users can choose to see more or fewer articles related to the same topic by selecting the control icon located at the bottom right corner of the card.
Discover also utilizes the Full Coverage feature found in Google News, providing users with a comprehensive overview of the same topic by offering a 'non-personalized view mode from a range of reliable news sources'.
Moreover, Discover also adds support for multiple languages on the card, allowing users to read and view news in various languages. Currently supported languages include English and Spanish, with more languages set to be added soon.
Google also mentioned that Discover will be available through the Google app, Pixel launcher, Google.com, and mobile web browsers. The latest update is expected to be rolled out to users in the coming weeks.
