Spreadsheet programs like Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets can be powerful tools if you master the formulas. However, exploring everything beyond these applications can be time-consuming. The good news is that Google is introducing two new features to save you time on your next project in Google Sheets.
Download and install the latest version of Google Sheets on your phone:
The most convenient feature on the horizon is the upcoming debut of Smart Fill. Think of it as akin to Smart Compose - a feature that attempts to automatically complete your sentences in Gmail and Docs, but applied to spreadsheets. The concept here is that Smart Fill can automatically fill in data for you.
What's intriguing about Smart Fill is that whenever it does its job, it generates a formula instead of adding data without user input. This gives you more control over how it operates as you can fine-tune its suggestions if needed. It's also an opportunity to understand how formulas work in Sheets, allowing users to harness them independently in the future.
Another new feature making its way to the application is Smart Cleanup. Perhaps you've gleaned some insight from the name; Smart Cleanup will detect duplicate rows as well as any formatting issues and suggest remedies.
This isn't the first time Google has utilized machine learning to enhance the usability of Sheets. In 2017, the company integrated natural language recognition into the Explore tool of the application. However, you'll have to wait for a while to experience these latest features. Google plans to add Smart Fill to Sheets by the end of this year.
If you're a history enthusiast longing to explore various ancient dinosaur species, Google has got you covered. Now users can observe 3D dinosaurs using AR technology in Google Search for an incredibly immersive experience.
