Recently Google introduced users with a novel way to add emoji symbols by voice through the Gboard keyboard for Android. Despite various methods to add emoji symbols, adding them by voice may become monotonous.
Google transforms emojis into spoken language
Given the abundance of emoji icons today, users are more inclined to use their fingers to scroll through emoji icons rather than remembering voice commands for each emoji. For users with disabilities, voice input is necessary to add emoji icons.
Emoji are increasingly popular nowadays, with some characters in children's movies even based on emojis. However, Google hasn't done much to fully exploit the potential of emojis.
'In addition to drawing or searching for emojis you like using American English, you can now use voice commands to add emojis, such as 'Winky face emoji' to express your emotions, ... We will soon introduce this feature to users,' says Daan van Esch, language development program manager at Google.
What's your opinion on Google's 'transformation' of emojis into spoken language? Will you continue to manually insert emojis or use voice commands? Not only allowing users to add emojis from the Gboard keyboard in various ways, Google is also updating the feature sending animated images on Android via Google Keyboard for users to have more options to share emotions.
