The Dark Mode is beginning to appear for Android 10 users who have updated to Google Translate version 6.4.0 and are using dark mode system-wide (forcing dark mode to function on supported apps).
The latest version of Google Translate now offers dark mode support
- Get Google Translate for Android.
- Get Google Translate for iPhone.
When implemented effectively, dark mode can be an excellent addition to mobile apps, providing a convenient option to reduce eye strain in low-light conditions, helping to save battery when you use the app frequently, and introducing a fresh change.
Google Translate's dark mode leans more towards a grey tone rather than black (meaning limited energy savings, especially for AMOLED screens). The blue elements of the app remain unchanged from the light version, which may also cause some AMOLED phone owners or Google Translate users to worry about burn-in issues, occurring as the screen deteriorates after extended use.
If you want to try Dark Mode, you can find the latest update of Google Translate on Google Play Store or download and install the APK file manually. However, the implementation seems to be very limited at the moment, so don't be disappointed if you can't see it yet. You also need to remember that this may just be a small test of an incomplete design, so it could change significantly before official release.
