Seemingly, the search giant continues to enhance its Google Drive cloud storage service. Following the recent web interface update on Google Drive, Google now introduces Google One, an upgraded version of the paid cloud storage service, allowing users to store their data with very affordable pricing.
Google launches Google One, an upgrade to its paid Google Drive cloud storage service.
The company also mentioned that all paid user Drive storage plans will be converted to Google One in the coming months.
Google Drive users are provided with 15GB of free storage for their data. To utilize more storage, users can upgrade to premium plans. With Google One, the lowest-priced plan at $1.99/month offers 100GB of storage. Higher plans include $2.99/month for 200GB and $9.99/month for 2TB. However, for plans exceeding 2TB, the fees remain unchanged with no alterations.
These changes in plans do not impact business customers using G Suite. The previous 1TB plan priced at $9.99/month on Google Drive will be discontinued. Customers using this plan will automatically be upgraded to the 2TB plan without incurring additional charges.
Google One also enables users to share their plans with up to 5 family members, providing each user with their own storage space on Drive. Additionally, the company offers customers access to the new 'one-tap' support feature for assistance from experts.
This means that subscribers, even those on the most basic plans priced at $1.99/month, will have access to connect with Google experts for assistance on the company's products and services. The tech giant reveals plans to introduce several new useful features for its products.
Directly competing with Google One, Microsoft's OneDrive emerges as a prominent rival. With OneDrive, users can subscribe to Office 365 Home for $99.99/year or $9.99/month via the Microsoft Store, acquiring 1TB storage and allowing maximum access for up to 5 users.
The plans also include office suite applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, along with 60 minutes of Skype calls per user every month. However, Microsoft does not offer the option to modify storage capacity and is not integrated for plans exceeding 1TB.
Google One will be initially available for users in the United States. Customers enrolled in paid Drive storage plans will be automatically upgraded. The company also states its intention to expand the service to other markets by the end of this year. If you reside outside the United States and want to know when Google One will be available in your country, you can sign up to receive updates from Google.
Currently, you can still download and install Google Drive on your computer to upload and share files. Find detailed instructions on how to install and utilize Google Drive here.
