Google collaborates with Ubisoft to test the beta version of the game Assassin's Creed Odyssey on the new Project Stream platform before its official launch. Invited players can play the latest Assassin's Creed versions without the need to download and install hefty game files.
Google releases the first Project Stream for the privileged invitees.
Quoting Google's announcement:
'Starting today, invited Project Stream testers can enjoy Assassin's Creed Odyssey entirely for free until January 15, 2019. They are encouraged to provide feedback and report any issues related to the Project Stream platform. A small note is that you must be a U.S. citizen and be above 17 years old.'
Similar to streaming music, watching online movies, latency may occur during the gaming experience.
Additionally, there are rumors suggesting that Google is quietly developing a game streaming service to compete with major players like Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation. This service, codenamed Yeti, is believed to only work with a Chromecast-esque dongle for streaming.
The official invitation for users to test Project Stream will commence tonight. Users will receive $10 in-game and are required to create a Ubisoft account. Check out how to create a Uplay account with Ubisoft here.
The setup code only works on a single account, simultaneously applying access rights to the specific Google account login information.
1. The computer must have a secure and stable internet connection. Players cannot play the game on a phone or tablet.
2. Use the code to get started. Additionally, players need to have a Google account and use the latest version of Chrome.
3. If not already done, players will need to create a Ubisoft account. After clicking Play, players will need to log in.
4. Connect a controller or mouse and keyboard to start playing the game. Try connecting wired USB controllers such as DualShock 4 or Xbox One and 360 controllers.
Players can experience gaming on the Project Stream platform until January 15, 2019. Additionally, players need to update to the latest version of Chrome, namely Chrome 69, on all Mac, Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS platforms. The platform supports wired controllers, but using a trackpad is not recommended.
