Add a New Keyboard Language
Step 1: Open Spotlight (press cmd + space), type system in the Search box, from the search results, select System Preferences, or alternatively, click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of the screen and choose System Preferences.
Step 2: Click on Keyboard.
Step 3: In the Keyboard window, switch to the Keyboard to Input Sources tab, then click the (+) icon at the bottom left corner of the window.
Step 4: On the popup window displayed on the left panel, choose the language you want to add, then select the specific layout for the language from the list on the right.
Finally, click the Add button to add this language to your system.
Switching Keyboard Language on Macbook
There's no faster way to change the Macbook keyboard language than assigning a shortcut key for language switching.
Step 1: Access Keyboard in System Preferences.
Step 2: In the Keyboard window, switch to the Shortcuts tab.
Step 3: Click on Input Sources in the list on the left panel and check Select next source in Input menu. You'll see a small warning on the screen because this shortcut is already used by Spotlight.
Step 4: Click on Spotlight in the list on the left panel and uncheck Show Finder search window. The warning will no longer appear on the screen.
Step 5: Now you can change the Macbook keyboard language using the shortcut Cmd + Opt + Space.
