Learn how to convert an Apple Numbers document to a Microsoft Excel (.XLS) file on various devices including Mac, Windows, and iPhone, as well as through iCloud website.
Steps to Follow
Utilizing iCloud Services

Navigate to https://www.icloud.com/ using any modern web browser such as Opera or Internet Explorer.

Enter your Apple ID email and password. These are needed to access the App Store. If you don't have one, create an Apple ID first.

Access your Numbers document. If it's stored in iCloud, you'll find it on the Numbers page. If you're uploading from your desktop, click the green gear icon, choose 'Upload a Spreadsheet,' and select your Numbers file.

Click on the wrench icon located at the top-right corner of the document's page.

Select 'Download a Copy.' This option is at the top of the drop-down menu.

Choose 'Excel.' It's located on the right side of the 'Download a Copy' window. This action will initiate the download of a .xls version of your Numbers file onto your computer.
For Mac Users

Ensure your Numbers document is open. Look for the 'Numbers' heading at the top-left corner of your Mac menu bar.

Access the File menu. You'll find it in the top-left corner of your screen. This action will display a drop-down menu.

Choose Export To from the menu. This option is located towards the center of the File drop-down menu. Selecting it will reveal a pop-out menu.

Select Excel from the Export To menu.

Click on Next. You'll find it at the bottom-right corner of the 'Export Your Spreadsheet' window.

Provide a name for your file. This will be the name visible in both Numbers and Excel.

Choose a location to save your file. Simply click on a folder (e.g., 'Desktop').

Select Export. It's located in the bottom-right corner of the window. This action will convert your Numbers document to an Excel file. You can open it in Excel by double-clicking the document on any computer with Excel installed.
For Windows Users

Visit the CloudConvert website by clicking here. This service allows you to convert Numbers documents to Excel format, which is not directly supported on Windows.

Click on Select Files, located at the top of the page, to open a file selection window.
Choose the Numbers file you want to convert. If it's not on your desktop, navigate to its location using the left-hand sidebar in the file selection window.

Click Open to upload the Numbers file to CloudConvert's website.

Click on select format, located near the top of the page, to reveal a drop-down menu. If the bar already displays '.xls' or '.xlsx', you can skip the next two steps.

Choose Spreadsheet from the bottom of the file selection drop-down menu.

Click on xls or xlsx. XLS is for older Excel versions, while XLSX is for newer ones.

Initiate the conversion by clicking Start Conversion. It's the red button at the bottom-right corner of the page.

Download your converted file by clicking Download. This green button is located in the upper-right section of the site's page.
For iPhone Users

Launch Numbers, identified by its green icon with white bars.

Choose a document to open. If Numbers opens to an existing document, tap the 'Back' button in the top-left corner of the screen first.

Tap on the … located at the top-right corner of the screen.

Tap on Export, positioned near the top of the screen.

Select Excel. It's the option located at the lower-left on this page.

Tap on Mail. Look for the mail icon, resembling a white envelope on a light-blue background, in the top row of the pop-up menu at the bottom of the screen.

Input your email address into the 'To' field, located at the top of the screen.

Press Send, situated in the top-right corner of the screen. This action will dispatch the Numbers document in .XLS format to your email inbox, from where you can download it to a computer with Excel.
Tips
If you have a cloud option (e.g., Google Drive or iCloud Drive) available on your iPhone or iPad, you can choose it from the pop-up menu where you find 'Mail'. Uploading your Excel document to a cloud service will enable you to download it from the Cloud rather than from an email. Newer versions of Excel documents are typically saved as .xlsx rather than .xls.
Warnings
- Be aware that some Excel images and settings may not be compatible with Numbers, and vice versa.
