When you listen to a melodious song, you might want to use its background music as a ringtone, but struggle to find the song's beat. You happen to hear someone mention separating song lyrics to get the background music. But you don't know how to separate song lyrics?
In this article, I'll introduce you to how to separate song lyrics using GoldWave software.
Step 1: You need to download and install GoldWave software on your computer.
Download from http://www.goldwave.com/release.php
Step 2: Launch the program, select File -> Open, or click the Open icon on the interface to open the song you want to extract lyrics from.

An Open Sound window will appear, choose the song and click Open.

Step 3: Create file Untitled1.
Select Edit -> Channel -> Left (or the shortcut Shift + Ctrl + L).

Next, choose Edit -> Copy (or the shortcut Ctrl + C) to duplicate the song.

Then select Edit -> Paste New to create a new file.

The newly created file Untitled1 will be displayed on the interface.

Step 4: Create Untitled2 file.
You need to select the original song then choose Edit -> Channel -> Right (or the shortcut Shift + Ctrl + R).

Next, select Edit -> Copy (or Ctrl + C).

Then choose Edit -> Paste New (shortcut Ctrl + P).

A new file named Untitled2 has been created.

Step 5: Select Untitled1 and choose Effect -> Invert.

Next, select Edit -> Copy to get the music section from Untitled1.

Step 6: Select Untitled2 and choose Edit -> Mix to add to the background music.

A dialog box named Mix will appear, choose OK to complete.

Step 7: Save the background music file. Choose Untitled2 and select File -> Save As to save the background music file that you just separated from the song.

The first time you do it, you might find it long and confusing, but from the second time onwards, you'll find it very simple. Just follow the steps in the article, and you'll have a background music track without the song vocals. Good luck!
