If there's an item you wish to purchase that isn't currently available on Instacart, you may need to make a special request to include it in your order. This guide will walk you through the process of adding a special request to your Instacart order.
Steps to Follow
1. Start your order on Instacart. Make sure to include at least one regular item from the database before adding any special request items.
2. Search for the item you want to request. Use the search box on the Instacart Home page or the Search tab to find the product. Type in the item name and check if there's a matching product available.
Navigate down the page until you locate the 'Add a special request' button beneath the 'Can't find something' label.
Ensure that the product you're searching for matches the entry in the 'What are you looking for' field.
Input the desired quantity in the 'Quantity' box located below the 'What are you looking for?' field.
You can disregard the units box; most individuals opt for 'containers' and allow the Shopper to adjust if necessary. Other options include 'ounces', 'pounds', and 'fluid ounces' - if unsure, leave it as is.
Complete any optional fields if applicable.
- Choose the store section where the item can be found if known, otherwise select 'I don't know its department' or cancel.
- Include additional instructions such as checking expiration dates, without mentioning aisle numbers.
- Optionally, provide a photo of the item ensuring it's not copyrighted, capturing its name, size, colors, and container shape.
Once you're prepared, tap the 'Add special request to cart' button and repeat the process for any additional special requests or items you require.
Complete your order using the standard Instacart checkout procedure, just like any other order.
Tips
Be familiar with the products available at each store if possible. If the brand you're envisioning isn't available in-store, your Shopper may request more details to find a suitable alternative. Keep an eye out for any additional information they might need, especially for deli orders involving meat and cheese preferences.
