By default, the MATLAB folder is located in the user's folder on the platform they are using. For Windows users, the MATLAB folder is in C:Users
Your data essence is stored on the network drive. Suppose you want to use a shared location for others to view your data, or simply want to move the MATLAB folder to a more easily searchable location on the local drive. Guide to Changing MATLAB Folder Location
Step 1: Click on Set Path in the environment group on the Home tab of the Toolstrip.
On your screen, you will see the Set Path dialog box.
This dialog box will list all the locations where MATLAB searches for data, with the default folder location displayed first.
To set the current folder as the default, find and select the folder on the list, then click on Move to Top.
If you don't want to use an existing folder, select it from the list and click on Remove.
Step 2: Click on Add Folder.
In the Path dialog box, you will see the option to Add Folder.
This dialog box allows you to choose a folder not currently on the list or add a new folder to use:
To use the current folder on the hard drive, navigate to the folder using the tree structure in the dialog box, mark the folder, and click on Select Folder.
To create a new folder, select the parent folder in the dialog box's tree structure, click on New Folder, name the folder, press Enter, and then choose Select Folder.
Step 3: Click on Save to change the MATLAB folder location.
MATLAB will set the folder you've chosen as the new default. In the User Account Control dialog box, click on Yes to let Windows perform the task.
Step 4: Click on Close.
Click on Close to close the Set Path dialog box.
Step 5: Enter the new address in the Address field.
The Current Folder window will display the path to the new MATLAB folder.
