How to Copy, Move Sheets in Excel
* Necessary steps:
- A computer installed with commonly used Excel 2013 or Excel 2016.
- Prepare an Excel file for copying and moving Excel Sheets.
How to Move Sheet in Excel
Step 1: Select the Sheet you want to move -> right-click on the Sheet name -> and choose Move or Copy.
Step 2: The Move or Copy dialog box appears -> you can move the Sheet within the current file or move it to another Excel file (Note: this Excel file also needs to be opened).
You can move a Sheet within the current file.
In the Move or Copy dialog box, the To book section defaults to the name of the current Excel file -> you can choose the position to move the Sheet in the Before sheet section (before the sheet).
Suppose you want to move the Sheet to the end of the Excel file (before Sheet 1), then you select Sheet 1 in the Before sheet -> and press OK to move.
You will see the result as shown in the interface below:
You can also move sheets to another Excel file.
In the Move or Copy dialog box -> you select the name of the Excel file you want to move the Sheet to in the To book section (assuming you are moving the sheet to the file Example-move-copy-Excel.xlsx).
When you select the file name, the names of the sheets in that file will also be displayed, and you can choose the position to place the Sheet in the Before sheet section, then press OK to move the sheet.
The result will be as shown in the interface below:
How to Duplicate a Sheet in Excel
To duplicate a sheet in Excel, you perform a similar process to moving a sheet, but in the Move or Copy dialog box -> you need to check the box next to Create a copy before pressing OK.
Some notes:
- When you move a Sheet, it will be completely transferred to a new file without retaining the original Sheet.
- However, when you duplicate a Sheet, the Sheet will remain intact and create an additional new Sheet at the duplicate location in the new file.
