Unikey is a program that aids in typing in Vietnamese, allowing users to compose text, chat with friends, or search on Google in the Vietnamese language. Often, we use it for typing in Vietnamese without paying attention to the other integrated features in Unikey. There are many useful features integrated into Unikey that you may not be aware of.
To save time while composing text, you can increase your typing speed by using Unikey's support for shortcuts. You can easily set up (add, edit, delete) shortcut words or phrases in Unikey with the following simple steps:
Step 1:- If your computer already has Unikey installed, open the program.
- If Unikey is not installed, you can download it here, then install and open Unikey.
Step 2:- Method 1: Right-click on the Unikey icon in the system tray and select Compose Shortcut Table.

Then select Shortcut Tables.
Step 3: The Macro Definition dialog appears, where you can set up the words to be abbreviated.
- To add a new abbreviation, enter the abbreviation in the Replace box, the full word for the abbreviation in the With box, and then select Add.
To add other words, follow the same steps as above.
- After adding the abbreviations, select Save to save the settings.
Step 4: Enable the shortcut feature of Unikey.
- Method 1: Right-click on the Unikey icon and choose Enable Shortcut Feature.
- Method 2: In the shortcut options, check the boxes next to Enable Shortcuts and Enable Shortcuts even in Vietnamese.
After completing the above 3 steps, open your text editor to try it out. Simply type the phrase in the Replace box and press space, and the program will automatically display the full word for you.
Now you can quickly use shortcuts with Unikey. For repeated phrases, using shortcuts can save typing time and enhance work and study efficiency.
