As mentioned earlier, Protected View feature in Word helps safeguard your security when receiving text files from the internet. When this feature is enabled, it notifies users upon opening these files, allowing only viewing and not direct editing (additional editing requires clicking on the Enable Editing button).
HOW TO DISABLE PROTECTED VIEW IN WORD
* Preparation steps:
- Computer installed with commonly used versions of Word such as: Word 2016, Word 2013.
- Word file with Protected View feature enabled.
To disable Protected View in Word, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the Word program -> then select File -> and choose Options.
Step 2: In the Word Options window -> select Trust Center in the left menu.
Step 3: In the Trust Center section -> select Trust Center Settings.
Step 4: A Trust Center window interface appears -> choose Protected View in the options group on the left interface window.
Step 5: Uncheck the tick in the 3 checkboxes for the 3 options in the Protected View section -> and press OK to save.
Upon completing Step 5, you have successfully disabled Protected View in Word. To re-enable this feature, simply repeat the same steps and check the 3 Protected View options.
