In Garena Free Fire, there are a total of 18 distinct types of weapons. Every player needs to understand the capabilities of these weapons, their strengths, and the appropriate moments to use the right type of weapon to gain an advantage for themselves.

In the game, you'll have 3 weapon slots. Unused weapons will be stored in your inventory. You'll have 1 primary weapon, 1 secondary weapon, and a spot for a pistol. The first 2 slots will accommodate all types of guns you can use, while the secondary weapon slot will hold compact weapons.
Different players will find different types of weapons most effective depending on their play style. The fundamental aspect in survival games is that you'll need a gun for close and extremely close ranges, and a gun for long-range combat. These are the most effective weapon sets, but it will take time to acquire them. Before that, you need to familiarize yourself and use everything you find.
Types of weapons in Garena Free Fire
Short Guns
In Garena Free Fire, there are 3 types of short guns: USP, G18, and Desert Eagle. Among these 3 guns, Desert Eagle has the highest damage but the smallest magazine, USP and G18 have lower damage but wider magazines. USP is often the most used gun because it supports accessories like silencers or muzzle brakes, while G18 cannot attach many accessories and Desert Eagle has decent damage but too slow fire rate and low magazine capacity. Short guns are often used in the early stage of the match when you just land and need a weapon to confront those who parachute next to you.
SMG
The SMG category in Garena Free Fire includes two guns: MP5 and UMP. These guns have quite similar stats in terms of damage and magazine capacity. However, SMGs should only be used to replace short guns in situations where you urgently need a weapon at the beginning of the match, then you should replace them with more powerful guns.
Assault Rifles
Assault Rifles, also known as assault rifles, are the most common type of gun in Garena Free Fire. There are 6 guns in this category including: AK47, M4A1, M14, SCAR, SKS, and Groza. These guns are often used in many situations with extremely high effectiveness. SKS and M14 are 2 guns that excel at long-range shooting (In fact, they are DMRs, not ARs). The remaining guns are most suitable for mid-range shooting. This is the strongest and most suitable gun category to use on the map.
Shotguns and Heavy Guns
M1014 and M1873 are the two shotguns in Garena Free Fire. Among them, M1014 is rated higher because it has a 7-round magazine and can fire automatically, while M1873 is a double-barreled shotgun and can only fire 2 rounds per magazine. These are the most powerful weapons when shooting inside buildings as just 1 or 2 rounds can take down an opponent.
M249 is a machine gun that can only be found in Air Drops. This gun has a huge magazine and can help you suppress opponents strongly, making it difficult for them to peek and creating opportunities for teammates to rush in during attacks. M79 is a grenade launcher for assaulting buildings when you just need to shoot inside without entering the building.
Sniper Rifles
Sniper rifles are weapons specialized for long-range combat, capable of taking down opponents from extreme distances with just one shot. Garena Free Fire has 3 sniper rifles including Kar98, AWM, and VSS. While VSS is relatively weak, it has a good firing rate, Kar98 and AWM are two rifles almost mandatory for a pro player's inventory. AWM is the most powerful SR rifle while Kar98 can be obtained more easily as it often appears on the map.
