Factory resetting your PS4 is a fairly simple process and this is the method many have used to ensure the functionality of the system. However, be sure to back up all your data before starting the reset process because resetting the PS4 will erase all your data from the system. So, how do you effectively and safely factory reset your PS4? Check out the detailed instructions on factory resetting your PS4 that Mytour shares below!
Guide on Various Methods to Factory Reset Your PS4
Method 1: Standard PS4 Factory Reset
To factory reset your PS4, you need to keep in mind the following:
- Step 1: Log into your PS4 and go to the Settings menu, then find the option PlayStation Network/Account Management.
- Step 2: In the Activate as Your Primary PS4 window, click on the Deactivate option and select Yes.
- Step 3: Log back in with your user account and proceed to the Settings menu again.
- Step 4: Find the Initialization option in Settings and select Initialize PS4 - this option will erase your hard drive data, including downloaded games, saved game data, and anything else you've purchased. Simply put, it restores your PS4 to its factory settings.
Here, you'll also see another option called Restore Default Settings. This option will erase your saved settings data and return your PS4 to its original settings, but it won't erase your hard drive.
- Step 5: On the Initialize PS4 screen, select Full and wait for a few hours to complete the PS4 factory reset process.
Method 2: Guide to Factory Resetting Your PS4 in Safe Mode
If you encounter system software issues or other errors preventing you from accessing the Settings menu and factory resetting the PS4 as described above, you can access options in Safe Mode. Follow these instructions:
- Step 1: Turn off your PS4 console by selecting the Safe Mode option instead of Rest Mode.
- Step 2: Hold down the power button on your PS4 console until you hear the first beep. There will be another beep before booting into Safe Mode.
- Step 3: Select the Reset option you need. Here, you can choose the Initialize PS4 option as instructed above to factory reset the PS4.
- Step 4: Choose Quick or Full. Wait for the reset process to complete.
