Deleting temporary files is one of the simplest ways to free up disk space on the Windows operating system.
Typically, users resort to CCleaner to delete temporary files. However, few know that they can use the Settings app to delete temporary files on Windows 10 without needing to install any additional third-party software.
Step 1:
Open the Settings app by clicking on the Settings icon in the left pane of the Start Menu.
Step 2:
Next, on the Settings window, click on the System icon.
Step 3:
Then, click on Storage. Under the Storage section, select the Windows installation drive (usually drive C).
Step 4:
After selecting the system installation drive (Windows installation drive), you'll see the Storage usage page appear.
Step 5:
Note that Windows includes space used by Download folders, Recycle Bin, previous versions of Windows (Windows.old folder), and temporary file directories in its size calculations. Your task is to select Temporary files.
Step 6:
Next, on the Temporary files page, check the box next to Temporary files, then click Remove files to delete all temporary files on your Windows computer. If a confirmation dialog appears, click Yes or OK to start the process of removing temporary files.
