Instead of installing the Windows OS, you can create a Ghost file (image file) so that in case of system failure, you can quickly and easily restore it.
Preparation:
- Hiren Boot CD
- Win XP Ghost File: if not available, proceed to download Ghost Win XP SP3
How to Ghost Windows XP with Hiren Boot's CD
Step 1: Insert the Hiren BootCD into the computer. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS by selecting Boot, then choose CD/DVD Driver.
- Attention
- Depending on the type of machine, you can access the BIOS in various ways, typically by pressing F2, F3, F8, ESC, Delete, etc.
Step 2: Select Dos program....
Step 3: Choose Backup Tools...
Step 4: Select Norton Ghost.....
Step 5: Choose Ghost Normal
Step 6: Follow the steps below. Select Local -->Partition --> From Image
Step 7: Navigate to the location containing the *GHO image file of Windows XP
Step 8: Select the partition to save the Ghost file
Step 9: Choose Yes if you are sure you want to ghost to that partition. Choose No if you want to change the partition to unghost
Alright, now the ghosting process will commence
Once the process is complete, restart your computer. And here's the result
