Getting a visa for India is quick and easy. Register online the day before, and you can receive a confirmation email the next day.
Guide to obtaining e-visa for travel to India
The visa fee for India is 49.2 USD, approximately around 1.2 million VND. The duration of stay is 30 days.
Required procedures
– One passport photo: Format jpg, file size minimum 10 KB – maximum 1 MB. Dimensions minimum 350 x 350 pixels (If the photo is high quality, you must resize it using photo editing software). The photo should have a white background, taken close to the application date. Your visa application may be rejected if the photo is not clear.
– A photo or scanned copy of a passport with at least 6 months validity, in pdf format. File size should be minimum 10 KB, maximum 300 KB. The uploaded passport image should contain personal information such as name, date of birth, nationality, expiry date, etc. The details on the passport image must match the information provided in the application.
– After resizing the photo, you can convert the jpg file to pdf using the website http://www.convert-jpg-to-pdf.net. Pay attention to the file size to submit correctly. Your visa application may be rejected if the photo is unclear and not in the correct format.
Visit the website https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html. Click on the E-tourist Visa Application section or scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Apply online.
Fill in the information carefully and accurately.
1. Choose Passport Type
– Ordinary Passport: Common passport. Most backpackers like us will select this option.
– Diplomatic Passport: Issued to government officials for diplomatic missions abroad, with a distinctive red cover.
– Official Passport – Service Passport: Granted to officials traveling abroad on state business.
– Special Passport: A special category similar to the official passport.
2. Nationality: Vietnam.
3. Airport of Arrival: As per your pre-booked flight, for example, Kolkata Airport.
4. Date of Birth: Please note that if the day or month of birth has a single digit, you must write two digits (with a leading zero) to avoid system errors. Example: 01/06/1996.
5. Enter your email address (Email ID – Re-enter Email ID).
6. Anticipated arrival date in India (Expected date of arrival).
7. Visa Service: Select the type of visa, choose Tourist Visa (eTourist Visa).
8. Provide full name, gender, and place of birth.
– Surname = Last Name. Example: NGUYEN VAN
– Given name = First Name. Example: BAC
– Gender: FEMALE: Female / MALE: Male / TRANSGENDER: Transgender
– Town/ City of Birth: City of birth
– Country of Birth: Country of birth
– Citizenship/ National ID no: National ID number
– Religion: Religion. If not religious, choose OTHERS and enter NONE. If Buddhist, enter BUDDHISM; if Catholic, enter CATHOLIC; if Christian, enter CHRISTIAN.
– Visible identification marks: Identifying marks. Open your ID card, translate it into English, and fill in the form. Example: Mole near right ear.
– Educational Background: Level of education
– Have you resided in the country you are applying for a visa for at least two years?: Select Yes or No
9. Did you acquire nationality by birth or naturalization? Most individuals choose By Birth. If by naturalization, indicate the previous nationality.
10. Provide passport details (Ensure accuracy according to the passport). If you have another valid passport, click YES and provide details. Otherwise, select NO.
12. Marital status, occupation.
13. Visa Details
– Intended Places to Visit: Desired locations to explore. Provide 1-2 cities. Example: Kolkata/ New Delhi.
– Purpose of Visit: Purpose of the trip. Example: Tourism – for sightseeing.
– Expected Date of Journey: Anticipated arrival date in India.
– Expected Port of Exit from India: Airport where you will depart from India.
– Have you visited India before: Have you been to India previously? If yes, provide additional details about the previous visa.
– Has Permission to Visit or Extend Stay in India been Previously Denied? Have you ever been refused permission to visit or extend your stay in India?
14. Additional Information
– Countries Visited in the Last 10 Years: List of countries you have visited in the past 10 years.
– Have you visited SAARC countries (excluding your own) in the last 3 years? SAARC includes India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan.
– Reference Name in India: Contact person in India or you can provide hotel contact or friends on Couchsurfing.
– Reference Name in Home Country: Contact person in Vietnam.
– Upload – Upload the prepared passport photo.
15. Upload the pre-prepared passport photo or scan. Ensure compliance with the specified requirements.
17. Wait for the confirmation email from India and get ready for your journey.
Note:
– Carry a copy of the online travel visa (ETV) when traveling.
– Online tourist visa (ETV) can be applied for twice a year, not extendable, not convertible, and not valid for restricted areas. The visa is for single entry; if you need to enter more than once, you must go to the Embassy.
– The maximum pre-travel application period is 30 days, with a minimum of 4 days.
– The applicant's identification features must be checked upon arrival in India.
– The passport must be valid for at least six months and have at least 2 blank pages.
