Guide to Traveling to West Yen Tu – Bac Giang
The historical and scenic area of West Yen Tu includes a system of historical, cultural, and scenic relics located on the western and northern slopes of the Yen Tu mountain range, stretching from Son Dong to Yen Dung in Bac Giang province.


West Yen Tu is situated behind the mountain, with a stream in front. This place still preserves and conserves many pagodas, relics related to the formation of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect in the Tran dynasty. The Yen Tu scenic relic complex was also recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2017.

When you visit West Yen Tu, you will explore a system of pagodas, relics, and the majestic beauty of the mountains such as Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Yen Dung), Am Vai Pagoda (Luc Ngan), Dong Thong Pagoda (Son Dong), and more.

– By Self-driving or Motorbike:
From Hanoi, drive through Nhat Tan Bridge - National Highway 18 (Bac Ninh), then turn onto the Hanoi - Bac Giang expressway to Big C Bac Giang. Continue on Provincial Road 293 from Bac Giang City straight to the spiritual and ecological tourist area of West Yen Tu.
– By Bus:
You can take a bus from Hanoi to Bac Giang bus station with bus number 07, which covers 70km and takes you directly to the temple gate. The bus fare is 55,000 VND per person. The earliest bus departs at 5:00 AM, followed by 7:30 AM, and then every 40 minutes until the last bus at 7:00 PM.
Upon reaching the temple, you can explore the square and some points below before moving to the higher temples, Thượng Temple and Đồng Temple. As the path to Đồng Temple from the West Yen Tu area is quite challenging, you can take the cable car with a ticket price of 260,000 VND round trip per person, which takes only 10 – 15 minutes to reach Thượng Temple and then walk an additional 30 minutes to reach Đồng Temple.
