Both The Information and Bloomberg previously claimed that Apple is researching a more budget-friendly version of the Apple Vision Pro AR headset. It's known that the initial version of this product line is expected to be released early next year with a price tag of up to $3,500, making it inaccessible to many Apple customers.
Affordable Vision Pro to Omit EyeSight and M-Series ChipIn the latest 'Power On' newsletter, Gurman explains that Apple has been planning to launch a more affordable mixed reality headset since before the Vision Pro was announced and is actively allocating resources to this device. The company has clearly shifted employees from developing standalone AR glasses to cheaper VR headsets. Apple has deliberately discussed pricing it at around $1,500 to $2,500.
Gurman previously mentioned that 'Apple' plans to lower the price of its AR glasses by using lower resolution displays and chips designed for , rather than Macs. Now, he also believes that Apple may remove EyeSight, the external display of the Vision Pro that shows the wearer's eyes, as well as reduce the number of and sensors on the device.
This journalist also reiterates their report from last week that Apple is continuing to research the second generation of the Vision Pro augmented reality headset, which is slightly smaller and lighter in design to provide a more comfortable wearing experience.
