In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman stated that Apple will replace the Lightning port with USB-C to comply with European regulations and ensure consistency across its AirPods lineup. However, 'The Cupertino company' has no plans to add the H2 chip and its accompanying features such as Spatial Audio and personalized volume to future AirPods Max in the near future.
AirPods Max USB-C is slated for release in the latter half of 2024This means that the next iteration of Apple's premium over-ear headphone line will only see the most notable change being the USB-C port, similar to the recently unveiled AirPods Pro USB-C model.
Gurman further noted that Apple's plans 'may' change between now and when the AirPods Max are released.
Last week, this journalist reported that all three models of AirPods and Mac accessories like the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad are expected to transition to USB-C by 2024. Let's wait and see what other surprises 'Apple' has in store for fans in the near future!
