Security firm Kaspersky Lab has detected this malicious software, also known as FinSpy or FinFisher, and it is often used by law enforcement agencies for surveillance purposes.
According to the report, Kaspersky Lab has been tracking a hacker group called BlackOasis. This hacker group installs malicious software on users' computers through security vulnerabilities in the Adobe Flash Player plugin before connecting these computers to servers in the Netherlands, Switzerland, or Bulgaria.
The BlackOasis hacker group uses FinSpy to target United Nations organizations and politicians in the Middle East, as well as regional journalists, activists, and opposition bloggers. In addition, victims of this attack have also been reported in the UK, Russia, Africa, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan.
