The Huawei MatePad Pro 11 is the latest tablet introduced by Huawei at the Smart Office Launch 2022 event held in Thailand. Its first standout feature lies in its slim and lightweight design.According to the manufacturer, the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 weighs only 449g and is 5.9mm thin. In reality, when held in hand, it feels noticeably more compact than the iPad Pro 11, and thanks to its lightness, using it with one hand is quite comfortable.
The back of the device boasts a sleek black finish, adding to its aesthetic appeal while minimizing fingerprint smudges. On the upper right edge lies the power button, with volume controls positioned on the right side. Equipped with a 6-speaker sound system, the device ensures an optimal entertainment experience. A notable feature on the rear is the raised circular camera module.
Within this camera setup are 2 sensors: a 13 MP sensor (f/1.8, autofocus) and an 8 MP sensor for wide-angle shots (f/2.2). Additionally, a flash is included to assist in low-light conditions. This circular camera design is a trademark of Huawei phones, originating from the Mate 30 series.
Turning to the front, the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 boasts an OLED display measuring 11 inches with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, aspect ratio of 16:10, and a pixel density of 274ppi. With a 120 Hz refresh rate, navigating the screen feels smooth, enhancing gaming experiences, particularly FPS titles. Upon initial use, the display impresses with its sharpness and high contrast, attributed to the OLED panel. Additionally, it's the first tablet to receive the Full Care Display 3.0 certification from TÜV Rheinland, ensuring user eye protection.
In terms of hardware, at the event, Huawei mentioned a 5nm processor without specific details. From what I observed, the device I held seems to be equipped with a Snapdragon 870 processor (7nm), with another option being Snapdragon 888 (5nm), indicating potential market-dependent hardware variations. The Huawei MatePad Pro 11 will offer different RAM and storage options, including 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage.
Huawei stated they've equipped the device with graphene-based cooling technology to prevent overheating, ensuring stable performance during usage. The Huawei MatePad Pro 11 comes in 4G and Wi-Fi versions for user choice, supporting Bluetooth 5.0. The USB-C port located at the bottom of the device is of the 3.1 Gen 1 generation.
The Huawei MatePad Pro 11 boasts an 8,300mAh battery, with different versions featuring varying charging technologies. The Snapdragon 888 variant supports SuperCharge technology with a maximum power of 66W, while the Snapdragon 870 variant supports 40W charging. Huawei's fast charging technology is quite impressive; I've experienced it on some Huawei devices, and the charging speed is notably high. Hopefully, in the future, I'll have the opportunity to experience and evaluate the battery performance of this device.
On the software front, the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 runs HarmonyOS 3.0 with specific enhancements aimed at improving multitasking and multi-window functionality to cater to users' need for efficient task handling. Additionally, Huawei has upgraded the note-taking software for better creativity, targeting users' growing creative demands. Alongside the device, Huawei introduces a new white M-Pencil stylus, along with a keyboard cum protective case for the device.
