Recently, ASUS unveiled the 2022 upgrade of the ExpertBook B5 Flip. While this upgrade doesn't bring a lot of new things, it contributes to making the ExpertBook B5 Flip more appealing.
The design of the B5 Flip 2022 remains very similar to its predecessor. The laptop's A surface is still made of aluminum alloy with only the ASUS logo and ExpertBook logo featuring LED status indicators.
The product's chassis is crafted using CNC technology. This ensures meticulous surface processing, no unnecessary details, and increased durability. Real-world experience also shows that the device has excellent finishing, without feeling cramped, and is quite comfortable to carry and use.
The machine's lid and bottom are made of aluminum, and the palm rest surface is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy to enhance durability. However, in exchange, the weight is quite heavy (1.38kg), but the device remains thin with a thickness of only 17.95mm, making it easier to carry. Additionally, the B5 Flip meets the U.S. military standard STD-MIL810H for durability.
The Ergolift hinge lifts the laptop by 2° for increased typing comfort, optimized cooling efficiency, and enhanced audio quality. The hinge provides a solid feel, ensuring a seamless typing experience without any wobbling, even at high speeds.
Designed for enterprise environments, the ASUS ExpertBook B5 Flip comes equipped with all essential ports for professional users. Connectivity options include a Micro SD card reader, USB 2.0 Type A, 3.5mm audio jack, Thunderbolt 4 port for fast charging, RJ45, HDMI, and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A.
Speaking of connectivity, ASUS has upgraded the B5 Flip to Wi-Fi 6E, the latest wireless connection standard. Wi-Fi 6E provides faster connection speeds, optimizing download/upload speeds and improving the streaming or meeting experience.
The underside of the ExpertBook B5 Flip is robust with 16 connection points linking the bottom to the components above, evenly dispersing impact forces and reinforcing the product's sturdiness. Maintenance and upgrades are easy, requiring only the removal of 12 screws on the bottom.
The ASUS ExpertBook B5 Flip features a 14-inch Full HD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, maximum brightness of 400 nits, 100% sRGB color gamut, and the ability to rotate 360 degrees. This feature is convenient for business users handling various tasks.
The display panel is also coated with an anti-glare layer for easy outdoor use. Additionally, the laptop is TUV Rheinland certified for blue light reduction. With an 85% screen-to-body ratio, the screen bezels are quite thin.
The webcam is positioned at the top corner, and ASUS also includes a physical webcam cover for absolute security. The webcam area also houses the infrared IR sensor, combined with Windows Hello for quick machine unlocking. Additionally, users can use the one-touch fingerprint security method with the sensor placed on the right side of the laptop.
The ExpertBook B5 Flip comes with the ASUS Stylus, compatible with the MPP 2.0 standard and featuring 4096 levels of touch sensitivity for the best note-taking and drawing experience. The side of the laptop is designed to hold the stylus, providing convenience and reducing the risk of misplacement. With just 15 seconds of charging, users can use it for up to 45 minutes. However, the writing experience with this stylus isn't as smooth as the S Pen on Galaxy products. The ASUS Stylus feels slightly hesitant when touching the screen and takes some time to get used to.
The keyboard has all the keys with a key travel of up to 1.5mm, providing a comfortable typing experience. The keyboard is backlit and spill-resistant. Typing on the ExpertBook B5 Flip's keyboard is truly a satisfying experience for someone who works extensively with text and keyboards; it's one of the quality laptop keyboards in its segment.
Due to its compact size, the laptop does not have a dedicated numeric keypad; instead, ASUS integrates it directly onto the touchpad with the exclusive NumberPad technology.
Performance is the only upgrade ASUS brings to the 2022 version. The ASUS ExpertBook B5 Flip is equipped with an Intel Core i5-1240P CPU paired with Intel Iris Xe GPU, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. This chip boasts 12 cores with a clock speed of up to 4.4GHz.
For those with higher demands, the laptop still has an available RAM slot, allowing users to upgrade to a maximum of 40GB, enhancing multitasking capabilities or handling more powerful graphics-related tasks.
Here is the performance score of the ASUS ExpertBook B5 Flip in popular benchmarks:
Through our tests, the Intel Core i5-1240P proves to be a remarkably powerful processor, promising a distinct user experience. However, it's worth noting that the temperature tends to run a bit high, although not enough to impact laptop performance, it's still something worth keeping in mind.
As a business-oriented product, ASUS prioritizes security features. Users are provided comprehensive protection with the integrated fingerprint unlock feature on the power button, TPM 2.0 chip, and anti-theft support with a Kensington lock.
Finally, the ExpertBook B5 Flip's 63Wh battery offers up to 10 hours of usage and supports fast charging, requiring just 39 minutes to charge 50% of the battery.
The ASUS ExpertBook B5 Flip is priced at 28,490,000 VND in the Vietnamese market. Overall, as a business laptop, it can effectively meet the usage and work needs of users. Of course, these are initial impressions of ASUS's eye-catching laptop; more time is needed to fully experience its features. Stay tuned for a detailed review of this laptop!
