I purchased the HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger early on through the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform due to its acclaimed highest power output currently available, along with its provision of 4 USB-C ports capable of charging multiple devices. The crowdfunding price was approximately $99, while the manufacturer's retail price is $200.HYPER previously crowdfunded a foldable flat plug 100W USB-C mobile charger. Later on, there have been some higher power mobile or desktop chargers such as Anker 120W, Zendure 136W, Satechi 165W... With HyperJuice, they equipped all 4 ports with USB-C, although you might find somewhere a power charger with a USB-A port, but those are noname brands. The HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger is arguably the highest-power multi-port USB-C charger available on the market today. Each USB-C port on this charger supports all popular charging standards including USB Power Delivery 3.0, the commonly used PPS extension on Samsung devices, along with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0+.
In terms of dimensions, the HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger measures 10.5 x 10 x 3.2 cm, with its length and width being slightly larger than a standard-sized payment card. Equipped with Gallium Nitride technology, this charger maintains a compact size compared to high-performance laptop chargers of equivalent capacity. The HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger boasts a higher level of refinement compared to HYPER's previous products. This is evident through the outer casing material and the meticulously crafted connection ports. It's worth noting that this is the first product to be mass-produced following successful fundraising.During testing, the HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger exhibited an intriguing feature of continuously supplying power to the charging device even when additional devices are connected. Unlike some chargers that regulate current by automatically cutting off previously charged devices, this characteristic is absent in the HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger, making usage more seamless.HYPER states that the 245W power output is equivalent to 4 of Apple's 61W chargers. In practice, the power distribution mechanism of the HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger follows the information table below. Specifically, when charging 4 devices simultaneously, one port delivers a maximum of 100W, while the other two ports provide 65W each, and the remaining port supplies 15W.According to the diagram, port C1 is positioned to the right following the direction of the 100W label. Honestly, looking at this table, one must admit it's quite confusing. Therefore, ports C1 & C2 will have their power output maximized respectively when connecting 4 devices simultaneously. In reality, when you have multiple USB-C devices, this charger remains abundantly useful. The crucial aspect is having a charging port that supports up to 100W, ensuring that devices like the MacBook Pro 16 (2020) or equivalent maintain their operational efficiency without compromise. At the time when the HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger initiated its fundraising campaign, the USB Power Delivery 3.1 EPR standard was not applicable to any supported devices. Later, when Apple introduced the MacBook Pro 16 (2021, M1 Pro/Max), it remained the only device supporting a power output of 140W through the PD3.1 charging standard, exceeding the 100W limit of PD3.0. Therefore, for users charging a MacBook Pro at 140W who seek a versatile high-power multi-port charger, the HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger is not yet the suitable choice. In a practical usage scenario, the HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger can support charging two MacBook Pro 15/16-inch laptops simultaneously with a total power output of around 200W, while still having enough power remaining to charge an iPad and an additional iPhone at high speed. The HyperJuice 245W USB-C GaN Charger is suitable for a minimalist office setup with an increasing number of USB-C compatible devices. I find the crowdfunding price of $99 reasonable; anything higher would likely cater to enthusiasts who truly appreciate such gadgets, needing a high-power multi-port charger for their work desk or for occasional travel.
Genuine products, I've learned, won't be available in Vietnam until July 2022.
