Hands-on with the Compact Galaxy Z Flip5 featuring the Intriguing Flex Window secondary display

The overall design of the Galaxy Z Flip5 has been slightly refined by Samsung compared to the Galaxy Z Flip4. Specifically, the thickness of the product when folded has been reduced from 17.1 mm to 15.1 mm, while the length of the device remains the same at 165.1 mm with a side thickness of 6.9 mm. This improvement is attributed to the hinge mechanism, which Samsung has tweaked a bit for better folding. As a result, the new Galaxy Z Flip model can fold more tightly than previous generations.

With just a minor change in the hinge, you can rest assured when slipping the Galaxy Z Flip5 into your pocket because you no longer have to worry about fabric wear and dust getting into the gap between the two halves of the screen. Additionally, the back of the Galaxy Z Flip5 is also coated with frosted tempered glass, not only ensuring high durability but also effectively reducing sweat and fingerprint smudges. In terms of color options, Samsung offers users 4 color variants for the Galaxy Z Flip5: Gray, Purple, Green, and Cream.

For the inner display of the Z Flip5, Samsung has retained similar specifications to the Galaxy Z Flip4. Specifically, Samsung's new clamshell foldable smartphone features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

The inner display of the Z Flip5 also supports variable refresh rate feature from 1 - 120 Hz depending on the tasks users perform to save power consumption for the phone.

As everyone has seen above, the Galaxy Z Flip5 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip, similar to the S23 series. Essentially, this processor is not too different from the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 but is well optimized for Samsung's high-end devices. As a result, the Galaxy Z Flip5 will operate smoothly, stably even at not too high temperatures, along with optimal power-saving capabilities.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Z Flip5 is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and two options for internal storage: 256 GB or 512 GB (no longer the familiar 128 GB storage option from the previous generation). This is understandable as apps, images, videos, etc., on phones are increasingly consuming more storage space. Therefore, the high storage capacity of the Z Flip5 will help users worry less about the device's storage capacity.
