Compared to its 2016 predecessor, the OPPO F1s 2017 upgrades two things: RAM from 3 GB to 4 GB, internal storage from 32 GB to 64 GB.
1. Hands-on with the OPPO F1s 2017: Upgraded to 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, ultra-sensitive fingerprint, priced at 6,990,000 VND
Compared to the 2016 version, the OPPO F1s 2017 has two upgrades: RAM increased from 3 GB to 4 GB, and internal storage expanded from 32 GB to 64 GB. The price of the 2017 model is also 1 million VND higher than the 2016 version. At the price of 6,990,000 VND, the OPPO F1s has two reasonable aspects: RAM and ROM. However, there are still some aspects that are not quite satisfactory, including the MediaTek chipset, outdated Android 5.1, and 720p display.
The 64 GB storage is ample, allowing you to store more than just photos. You can consider storing movies, music, or using the phone as a portable USB drive for school or work.
The exterior of the F1s 2017 is identical to the 2016 version. The device comes in two colors: Gold or Rose Gold. If you want a neutral option that's easier to resell later, you'll have to choose Gold over Rose Gold. The Gold color looks quite pale in reality, sometimes resembling Rose Gold with a lighter pink tone. It's a bit disappointing that the F1s doesn't offer basic colors like Black or Silver for easier choice. Both colors of the F1s have a slightly feminine touch.

The design of the OPPO F1s is quite basic and familiar to users. It features a physical Home button integrated with a fingerprint sensor. The slightly curved back and the minimally protruding camera cluster add to its aesthetics. Despite being designed for non-removable battery and back cover, it lacks a unibody construction, evident in the visible gaps between the back cover and the body, somewhat diminishing its appeal compared to unibody designs.

The fingerprint sensor on the OPPO F1s functions excellently due to two factors: first, its remarkably fast recognition speed, and second, its ability to lock apps/hidden files even before the device upgrades to Android 6 or 7. While the sensor doesn't allow unlocking when the screen is off, its rapid recognition compensates for it. A single press on the Home button swiftly unlocks the device, bypassing the Lockscreen without any delay or transition effects.
Traditionally, apps with fingerprint sensors require Android 6.0 or above for app locking/unlocking functionalities. Despite running on 5.1, the F1s 2017 cleverly integrates app locking/unlocking features using fingerprints. It is compatible with all installed apps, ensuring user convenience in this aspect.

The standout feature of the OPPO F1s 2017 is its front camera, boasting a higher resolution of 16 MP compared to the rear camera. Additionally, its wider aperture of F2.0, as opposed to F2.2 for the rear camera, combined with built-in software for skin smoothening and blemish removal, ensures brighter and clearer selfie shots.
Overall, the price of 6,990,000 VND seems slightly steep considering the specifications of the OPPO F1s 2017. While 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage are considered high-end in the Android world, few users fully utilize their potential or simply benefit from them. For most users, there's little difference between 3 GB and 4 GB RAM. Upgrading from 32 GB to 64 GB is beneficial for storage purposes, but it requires an additional 1 million VND investment, not to mention the prices of competing products. If the OPPO F1s were to upgrade its display to 1080p or switch the microUSB port to USB-C, those upgrades would be more worthwhile.
