Xiaomi recently introduced the Xiaomi 14 in the Vietnamese market. This year, only the standard version is being introduced, leaving those awaiting the international versions of Xiaomi 14 Pro and Xiaomi 14 Ultra disappointed, as these models are not officially sold in Vietnam. Xiaomi 14 Ultra is available from authorized retailers in Thailand and Malaysia.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra inherits the advantages of last year's Xiaomi 13 Ultra, featuring premium aesthetics, a high-quality camera system, finely tuned by the renowned Leica camera brand, as well as outstanding performance. This article will go hands-on with Xiaomi 14 Ultra to see how it stacks up against the titans: S24 Ultra and 15 Pro Max.
Design
Xiaomi 14 Ultra continues to inherit the luxurious and refined appearance from Xiaomi's previous flagship models. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra variant being reviewed by Mytour is the aluminum alloy version. Particularly, the Titanium Special Edition with a frame made from 'Grade 5' titanium material, similar to S24 Ultra which is only Titanium Grade 2, not only enhances aesthetic value but also ensures high durability for the device. The back of the device offers a choice between faux leather and glass materials, with excellent finishing, slight curvature for a comfortable grip, making the Xiaomi 14 Ultra feel snug and comfortable in hand.
Highlighted on the back is the large camera system protruding significantly due to housing high-quality lens and sensors. Details about this camera cluster will be discussed by Mytour in the later part of this article.
Below are some comparison images between Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Max, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, the three most expensive flagship models from Xiaomi, and Samsung.
Display
Xiaomi 14 Ultra features a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440x3200 pixels, supporting HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, ensuring vivid and sharp image experience. This display also has the flexibility to adjust refresh rates from 1-120Hz, optimizing performance and saving energy.
Xiaomi adopts the 'hole-punch' design with a 32MP selfie camera placed in the middle of the top bezel. Other bezels of the device are also designed to be ultra-thin, providing an impressive visual experience.
Furthermore, although still equipped with dual-curved edge display, however, this year it seems like Xiaomi has designed these curved edges slightly less curved compared to previous versions. As we all know, the trend of premium smartphones with curved edge displays has not been favored by manufacturers, instead, they are bringing this feature down to the cheaper and mid-range product lines to create competition.
Additionally, Xiaomi also integrates an under-display optical fingerprint sensor, allowing for a more convenient user experience. Overall, the display quality of Xiaomi 14 Ultra is arguably beyond dispute.
Camera
The Leica camera system of Xiaomi 14 Ultra consists of 4 50MP lenses, including the latest Sony LYT-900 sensor allowing aperture adjustment from f/1.63 to f/4.0, optimizing low-light performance. Furthermore, the 3.2X telephoto zoom sensor and 5X periscope lens have upgraded apertures, significantly enhancing long-distance shooting capability and light intake.
Of course, this camera setup is also fine-tuned by Leica, integrating characteristic color filters (Leica look) as well as Leica lens simulation modes, creating a distinct color tone for photos. Mytour will provide a review of Xiaomi 14 Ultra's Leica camera when there's more opportunity for hands-on experience.
Performance and Battery
With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of internal storage, Xiaomi 14 Ultra ensures powerful performance for all tasks from normal to heavy-duty such as gaming and graphic processing. The AnTuTu Benchmark score achieved by Mytour for this device is approximately 2 million points.
The device is equipped with a 5300mAh battery, supporting fast wired charging at 90W and wireless charging at 80W, allowing for long-term usage without worrying about running out of battery midway. The international version of this device will have a reduced battery capacity of 5000mAh, however, the fast charging capability remains the same. The device comes with a charger included, so users do not need to purchase one separately.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra comes pre-installed with the HyperOS operating system upon release. However, for the domestic version sold in China, the device does not support Vietnamese language by default and does not come pre-installed with Google services. Instead, users need to manually install them, which is relatively straightforward. If purchasing the international version, the device will support Vietnamese language and come with Google services pre-installed.
Pricing
Although Xiaomi 14 Ultra is not officially sold in Vietnam, the price of this device in the international market, specifically in Thailand, is around over 28 million VND for the 16GB/512GB option. In Vietnam, some stores are selling the domestic Chinese version for about 26 million VND.
Despite high expectations, Xiaomi 14 Ultra ultimately is not officially sold in Vietnam. This is perhaps a major disappointment for users anticipating this flagship smartphone. Xiaomi enthusiasts can consider the official Xiaomi 14 instead.
Currently, the official Xiaomi 14 is sold at a listed price of 22,990,000 VND, along with a series of attractive promotions. Check out the official Xiaomi 14 price at the link below.
