In response to the escalating issue of tourist scams, Hanoi's Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism plans to establish a hotline for swift intervention and resolution.
According to Hanoi's Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, areas like Hoan Kiem and Dong Da still witness persistent problems such as begging, street vending, and tourist harassment, along with cases of fraud and theft.

During the recent April 30th - May 1st holiday period, incidents involving deceptive cyclo, taxi drivers, and hotel operators in the Old Quarter adversely impacted the capital's tourism image.
To effectively combat these fraudulent activities, the department underscores the necessity of establishing a hotline.
This initiative aims to facilitate prompt reporting from tourists, enabling authorities to swiftly address and ensure the safety and security of visitors.
Hanoi's Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism plans to equip two mobile hotline numbers as part of their scheme. Officials will be available to answer calls around the clock.
Furthermore, this unit will collaborate with the hotline of Hanoi Police Department, district authorities, etc., to resolve and handle violations. Collaboration will extend to the hotline of the Department of Transportation and the Hanoi Taxi Association regarding issues related to transportation services for tourists, service quality, and taxi fares.
