Robbie Coltrane faced health challenges in recent years. In 2015, he was urgently hospitalized after a flight to Orlando, Florida, USA. In 2019, joint inflammation led the actor to undergo knee surgery, facing the risk of disability.
Born with the name Anthony Robert McMillan on March 30, 1950, in Rutherglen, a suburb of Glasgow, Scotland, Coltrane was a seasoned actor, gaining fame through two James Bond films - 'Golden Eye' (1995) and 'The World Is Not Enough' (1999), as well as the television series 'Cracker.' His portrayal of the Hogwarts gatekeeper Hagrid in Harry Potter turned him into a global star.
Throughout his career, he received numerous prestigious awards, including the British Academy Film Awards. In 2006, Coltrane was honored with the Order of the British Empire (OBE) - a royal accolade from the United Kingdom.
In his personal life, Coltrane married sculptor Rhona Gemmell in 1999. They parted ways after four years together and share two children.
