While not the first time introducing a new hero, it seems that the Demon Samurai - Takeda Nobutada is the most impressive class within the Naraka: Bladepoint community. This is largely speculated due to the Samurai's origin as well as the striking Japanese warrior aesthetics and its debut in intense combat.

Responding on the GameBraves website, Mr. Ray Kwan - Head of Production for the Naraka: Bladepoint project, shared many fascinating insights about Takeda Nobutada and the process of crafting this Demon Samurai.
Q: Could you share more about the interesting aspects of the new hero Takeda Nobutada? What are your favorite aspects of the new hero?
A: We believe Takeda has truly brought a fresh breeze to the game, both in appearance and skill set. What's intriguing about Takeda is the coexistence of good and evil within him.

The relationship between Takeda, Kurumi, and Tarka Ji is closely intertwined. Both Takeda and Tarka Ji appear in Kurumi's storyline, and I'm sure those familiar with their lore will recognize them immediately! Takeda may look like a samurai and exude noble samurai demeanor, however, he is a warrior unlike any other because of the demon residing within him.

There's a lot of interaction between Takeda and this inner demon - something our designers have put a lot of effort into developing: You'll be able to experience that yourself after the update on May 21.
Q: What's the inspiration for the new hero? What's the design philosophy behind the character and skill set for the new hero?
I think I understand what this question wants to convey! Although the hero Takeda and his skills may indeed evoke JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, a manga and television series (I'm a big fan of the artist behind it, Hirohiko Araki), we didn't directly draw inspiration from it to design the new character.

And the philosophy behind Takeda? It's all about the spirit living within him.
Q: How long has the new hero been in development? Could you share more about the balancing process of this hero with the rest of the roster?
There's a significant difference among heroes regarding the time it takes from initial design to completion. Some are straightforward and almost self-designed, while others require numerous revisions and iterations. Take Takeda, for example; his design process was quite smooth in the beginning, but it became more challenging over time.

When developing a new hero, we always have to consider how they will impact game balance and how they'll work alongside the existing hero roster. The more heroes there are, the harder this becomes. However, we realize that each hero possesses unique characteristics and roles that can't be replaced, with strengths and weaknesses depending on how you utilize them against other players.

For instance, Valda Cui can bind her enemies; Tianhai can transform into a gigantic Titan to capture foes; Wuchen can even teleport instantly, incapacitating entire teams... Each hero has their own strength, their own allure; that's the appeal of Naraka: Bladepoint.

In Takeda's teaser clips, he showcases close-quarters combos, relentless attacks, and swift maneuvers, seemingly capable of overpowering any opponent's arsenal, giving the impression he could sweep through the Tyranny Island. However, that's just theory; the true extent of his power and how many ways there are to counter this Samurai is ultimately determined by the players when they enter real combat.
Takeda Nobutada will officially debut tomorrow, May 21st.
