Here's why the Galaxy S23 series doesn't support emergency satellite communication

One of the most exciting features of the iPhone 14 series is emergency satellite communication. And before the release of the Galaxy S23, rumors suggested these phones would have a similar feature to Apple's, but that didn't happen.

Now, the explanation for why their new flagship Galaxy S series lacks satellite connectivity despite the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip supporting it has been provided.

TM Roh, the president and head of Samsung's mobile experience business, admitted they've been interested and promised to bring satellite connectivity to their phones in the future. However, he also believes it's still too early to introduce this new feature to the Galaxy S23 series because satellite communication on phones is still quite limited.

Roh stated:

'When the timing is right, and the infrastructure and technology are ready, our mobile division will actively consider implementing this feature.'

It's known that Apple's satellite connectivity deployment will automatically initiate if you attempt to call 911 without a cellular signal. When this occurs, you'll see the option for 'Emergency Satellite Text.' However, this new feature of the iPhone 14 series is currently only supported in the US, Canada, and select European countries.
