1. Adding More New Emoji Icons
Apple began introducing a new set of emojis since July 2022, but later in September 2022, they made adjustments to comply with the new Unicode standards.
And in the iOS 16.4 operating system update for iPhone and iPad this time, Apple will continue to refine and add up to 15 new emoji emoticons. Notable among them are emoticons like shaking faces; hearts with new colors: pink, blue, gray; emoticons of jellyfish, swan, llama, ... or gingerbread, peanut shapes
2. Displaying New Push Notifications for Safari Web
Websites from the Safari browser can be added to the home screen on iPhone, iPad as apps. Additionally, users can also receive push notifications through the subscribe button similar to on Mac.
Announcement: Websites now function similarly to other applications on iPhone and iPad, displaying notifications on the lock screen and Apple Watch. However, users must add the website to the device's home screen to receive notifications.
However, for third-party browsers like Google Chrome, Coc Coc, etc., it's possible to add websites to the home screen. Yet, these apps currently cannot push notifications from websites like Safari does.
3. Introducing Feature Enhancement for Shortcuts
Shortcuts are a feature initially introduced by Apple at WWDC 2018 with the aim of facilitating the creation of voice shortcuts related to Siri's actions or suggesting daily tasks.
In the iOS 16.4 beta version, Apple also adds additional options for new shortcuts, including device screen lock and always-on screen control. Specifically for iPad, users gain Stage Manager support for multitasking.
4. Altering Trial Program Options
Starting from version 16.4, Beta enrollment profiles are linked to the Apple ID on devices. Consequently, users need to log in with the correct Apple account previously registered, or risk being rejected or denied Beta upgrade privileges.
Additionally, with this new iOS version, users can customize enabling the developer beta feature directly through Software Update in the Settings app.
5. Adding Always On Display Settings in Focus Mode
Focus Mode will include an option to toggle the Always On Display feature in the iOS 16.4 beta version.
6. AppleCare Warranty Program
Starting from iOS 16.4, the Settings app is supplemented with a Coverage option allowing you to check information on Apple Care warranty for devices sharing the same Apple ID such as Apple Watch, AirPods.
7. HomeKit Enhanced
HomeKit's interface, initially introduced in iOS 16.2, has been updated to enhance reliability and facilitate more efficient connections with smart home devices. Additionally, users will notice the 'Home Update Ready' option in the Software Update section of HomeKit.
8. Upgraded User Guide Section
The User Guide app on iPhone will now be available on all devices including Apple Watch, AirPods, and HomePod, instead of being exclusive to iPhone as before.
