On December 24th, at the Thai Hoa Palace Courtyard (Inside the Hue Imperial City), the Hue Imperial City Heritage Conservation Center held a grand ceremony to welcome the 2 millionth visitor to explore the ancient capital of Hue in 2013.
This marks the second year the Conservation Center has celebrated the 2 millionth visitor (the first time was at the end of the previous year). The number of visitors to the heritage sites of Hue Imperial City in 2013 alone exceeded 2 million, with ticket revenue surpassing that of 2012, contributing significantly to the budget.
Mrs. Yoshimi Muto, a Japanese national currently staying at the Ana Mandara Hue Resort, became the 2 millionth visitor. She received special gifts, including a voucher for a 2-night stay for two at the 4-star Century Riverside Hotel Hue and a cash prize of 5 million VND sponsored by Hue Investment and Tourism LLC.

In addition, Mrs. Yoshimi also received a voucher for a 2-night stay for two at the 5-star La Residence Hotel & Spa Hue sponsored by the hotel, a voucher for the Central Heritage Road Tour (including transportation, guide, and meals over 4 days) sponsored by Hue Tourist Company, a free pass to all heritage sites within Hue Imperial City valid in 2014, and commemorative gifts from the Hue Imperial City Heritage Conservation Center.
During the ceremony, many gifts were also presented to the 1,999,900th visitor, Mr. Conlin Tapp (a British national), and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thanh from Ho Chi Minh City, who were enjoying their honeymoon and became the 2,000,100th visitors.
According to Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Hue Imperial City Heritage Conservation Center, despite Phu Bai International Airport being closed for 6 months and being affected by natural disasters, the number of visitors to Hue's heritage sites still increased in 2013. It is estimated that around 2.6 million tourists visited Hue, with approximately 2.1 million visiting the Hue heritage sites, generating revenue of 126 billion VND.

During this period, the Hue Imperial City Heritage Conservation Center also launched the 'Golden Tourism Week at Hue Heritage' from December 24th to 30th, 2013, offering many incentives such as: 20% discount on entrance tickets to heritage sites for groups of 10 or more, free guided tours for groups of 20 or more. Visitors purchasing tickets to visit 3 sites including the Imperial City, Khai Dinh Tomb, Minh Mang Tomb will receive free admission to visit the Tu Duc Tomb, Thieu Tri Tomb, and Hon Chen Palace. 50% discount on tickets to watch the Royal Court Music performances at Duyet Thi Duong Theater for daytime and evening shows (on the evenings of December 24th, 26th, and 28th from 7:00 pm to 7:45 pm). 50% discount on electric car shuttle services for touring the Imperial City area.
Numerous artistic activities also took place during the Golden Tourism Week, such as: Free performances of Hue traditional music at Dien Tho Palace from 9:00 am to 9:30 am; Reenactment of the 'Queen's Return to the Palace' ceremony at the Truong Lang Forbidden Purple City area from 9:00 am to 9:30 am daily; Exhibition of artistic photos titled 'Hue and its Moments' at Truong Lang. And a conference to meet with tourism travel partners of the Hue heritage area on December 29th...
On the morning of December 24th, despite the chilly weather and light drizzle, crowds flocked to the Imperial City and the tombs of Tu Duc, Khai Dinh, and Minh Mang due to awareness of the promotional activities during the golden tourism week from tour operators.
