Ho Chi Minh City introduces Bui Vien pedestrian street starting from July 15th

On June 8th, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Department, La Quoc Khanh, announced the collaboration with district 1 to inaugurate Bui Vien pedestrian street on July 15th. Preparations are completed, and the Department is disseminating tourism knowledge to the local community.
Deputy Chairwoman of District 1 People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, stated that the district is paving a 1,400m granite sidewalk to enhance aesthetics, with a total investment of over 10 billion VND.
'The challenge is to conduct construction at night while filling in during the day to avoid disrupting local businesses. The total investment for Bui Vien pedestrian street (including 2 gateways, security, sanitation, and wifi infrastructure) is approximately 12.7 billion VND per year,' said Ms. Huong.
Here, there will be ethnic music stage and international music stage. Performances will take place on Saturday and Sunday evenings from 7 pm to 2 am the following morning.
Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vice Chairman, Tran Vinh Tuyen, stated that Bui Vien pedestrian street addresses the practical needs of tourists visiting the city. The city will strive to upgrade and further enhance to meet the needs of residents and tourists.
'District 1 and the Department of Tourism must expedite the remaining tasks and prepare detailed plans for the opening day to attract people,' Mr. Tuyen requested.

Bui Vien Street (also known as the Western Quarter in Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1) has about 20 alleys connecting through Pham Ngu Lao, De Tham, Do Quang Dau streets... with nearly 1,000 residents.
Pham Ngu Lao Ward welcomes 500 tourists for accommodation daily, with peak days reaching up to 1,200, mostly foreigners.
When Bui Vien Street becomes a pedestrian street, on Saturdays and Sundays each week, vehicles are prohibited from 7 pm to 2 am. The entire street is equipped with security cameras and patrolled by security forces. Business households are allowed to trade on the sidewalks.
All visitors to Bui Vien pedestrian street will enjoy the 'four free' (4 complimentary) amenities including restroom access, wifi, free tourist information and assistance, and 'free smiles'.
